Rodney’s New Bathroom

Rodney’s New Bathroom

Project Overview

Our client’s common bathroom, which had been in use for many years, had begun to show signs of ageing and wear and tear.

It was clear that a renovation was needed to restore the bathroom to its former glory. Our co-founder Jimmy and his team were delighted to deliver.

I was thoroughly impressed with the design and layout of my downstairs bathroom. Ideal Renovation Auckland was incredibly easy to work with and had quick turnaround times on both quotes and products. I provided them with a specific style and budget, and they delivered on both fronts. As a “gents bathroom,” the final result exceeded my expectations. I was so pleased with their work that I have already hired them to renovate my upstairs “ladies bathroom,” which is currently underway. I am confident that the outcome will be equally amazing. Jimmy, in particular, was extremely helpful in guiding me through the product selection process and ensured that I stayed within my budget. I would highly recommend Ideal Renovation to anyone looking for a team that provides excellent design and layout solutions.

Before

After

Before the renovation

We had to renovate the entire bathroom including worn and torn vanity panels and a dated, framed shower. Additionally, the drop-in bathtub had begun to leak, requiring an upgrade.

Although the bathroom had an overall 1970’s style, our client wanted to incorporate a featured tile wall to give it a modern touch. Additionally, he also wanted more space by installing a wall hung vanity. Our team was happy to deliver on our client’s expectations.

After the renovation

Our client was extremely satisfied with the final outcome of the bathroom renovation project which was completed in 3 and a half weeks. The new bathroom design provided a fresh, modern feeling, which was especially evident in the beautiful tile work. The tiles used throughout the bathroom, including the Kashmir and Kaleido series, were designed to withstand everyday use and were easy to clean. The new fixtures and fittings, including the Englefield tapware and Sorrento II bathtub, provided both style and functionality. All fittings come with the Englefield standard warranty.

Our workmanship has a 2 years guarantee and waterproofing has a 15 years warranty. With all fittings and workmanship guaranteed, our client could enjoy their newly renovated bathroom with peace of mind.

Overall look & feel

The overall look and feel of the bathroom is one of modern sophistication and practicality. With its fresh and stylish tilework in shades of grey and white, the bathroom strikes a perfect balance between comfort and opulence.

Additionally, the renovation has made the bathroom more spacious and functional, making it easier and more enjoyable to use.

Overall, the client is extremely pleased with the outcome of the project and the improved functionality and aesthetics of their newly renovated bathroom.

Materials

The bathroom renovation project utilised high-quality materials to achieve a modern and stylish look. The shower area features a diamond shape made of 10mm tempered glass, with the AllProof shower drain system from Reece Plumbing.

For the floor and walls, a durable and easy-to-clean matt grey tile was used, with a subway tile as a feature in the wet area. The bathroom also features full Aqualine GIB and new ceiling GIB, along with the use of Technokolla waterproof products.

The Kashmir series of stone effect ceramic tiles were chosen for their practicality, with a matt surface suitable for everyday use on both floors and walls. Additionally, the Kaleido series offers a timeless and elegant Italian design, with the Kaleido Grigio 450x450mm tiles used in a dark grey charcoal shade suitable for both floors and walls. The wet area is adorned with classic white wall tiles, featuring a glossy finish and made of glazed ceramic.

Bathroom Vanity & Storage

The 600mm wall hung vanity featured double drawers, providing ample storage space for toiletries and other bathroom essentials. The design also created additional space underneath the vanity for a laundry basket, helping to keep the bathroom neat and tidy.

To further enhance the functionality of the space, we added the Heirloom Centro Double towel rail, measuring 600mm in length. This sleek and stylish accessory not only provided a convenient place to hang towels but also added a touch of elegance to the overall design.

Bathroom Fittings & Fixtures

For the bathroom fixtures, fittings, and appliances, we selected high-quality products that would enhance the functionality and style of the space. We installed Phillip LED downlights to provide ample lighting and create a warm, inviting atmosphere. To add a touch of elegance, we used Resene Alabaster interior paint for the walls. For the floor and wall tiles, we chose the Kashmir Grey Matt 45 x 45 and Kaleido Grigio Natural 450 x 450, respectively, from Tile Depot. In the wet area, we used the City White Gloss 100 x 300 subway tile to give the space a clean, modern look.

The tapware we used was from Englefield and has a 5-star water rating. The Sorrento II 1670mm bath tub, also from Englefield, was installed for the client’s comfort and relaxation. We also re-installed the rimless side pipe toilet.

To ensure maximum comfort during colder months, we installed a 3-in-1 heater that provides lighting, heating, and ventilation. Finally, we installed a Sweet Series shower slider with an overhead rain system and an adjustable rain shower head for a luxurious and indulgent shower experience.

Karaka Home Extension – Creating Two Bathrooms

Karaka Home Extension – Creating Two Bathrooms

Project Overview

The home of our client, Lawrence, located in Karaka, has undergone an expansion of 500 square meters to adapt to their evolving needs. This was a great chance to enhance their living areas and enhance the value of their property.

Lawrence had a specific vision for the bathrooms in his home. He desired a large, luxurious master bathroom for himself and his partner. Additionally, he wanted a functional and efficient shared space for his two sons to use during busy mornings. He wanted their bathroom to have side-by-side vanity and be easy to maintain for young boys.

We are so excited to move into our newly extended home. My wife is particularly looking forward to using the main bathroom. The children are also excited to use the semi-bathroom. The work performed by Jimmy and his team is outstanding and they went above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. They were punctual, hardworking, and their work was always of the highest standard. Jimmy closely monitored their progress and workmanship. A major advantage was that Jimmy was always available to answer any questions and promptly resolve any issues that arose.

Before

After

Before the renovation

The scope of this project was exciting for us. Since the team at Ideal Renovations Auckland was involved in the early stages as the architect was crafting the extension, we had a head start.

Lawrence sought out a reputable and experienced renovation company to design and execute the project.

Our team was thrilled to take on this project as it allowed us to showcase our ingenuity and focus on practicality in the two bathrooms.

After the renovation

An overwhelming outcome for the client because the bathrooms were a huge upgrade for every member of the family. The main bathroom is grand with its Italian Renaissance era theme. The spacious double vanity allows for efficient usage even on the busiest of mornings. The boys bathroom has been created for side-by-side usage for efficiency and also so easy to clean for young boys.

In the main bathroom, the wall-mounted bath spout with mixer and shower slider allows for both soaking in the bathtub and showering, particularly useful for young children. For both bathrooms, the shower spaces are huge making it a luxurious space for a peaceful shower with simple maintenance.

Both spaces are not just a complete pleasure to use and easy to clean but they will be durable and long-lasting for years to come. The bathroom comes with long lasting warranties of 15 years on the waterproofing and 15 years on all supplier provided fittings.

Overall look & feel

The main bathroom has a gorgeous feature wall to bring alive the whole space with royal shades of blue and gold. The space is large and inviting with a large shower area, freestanding bath and vanity, making it a pleasure to use even on the busiest of mornings.

The boys bathroom has a contemporary look with a wall to wall shower area with a feature wall. Two vanities, two towel rails and ample storage make it a pleasure for the boys to share this space.

Bathroom Materials Used

The tiles used are from the premium CasaItaliana range. For the walls we used 600x1200mm tiles from the Fresco range – Regio colour and for the floor Este colour. These tiles have a contemporary Italian style that shows sophistication in the contrast between materials and finishes.

They are also made with leading ceramic materials being only 7mm thick, these tiles are easy to handle, install and maintain. They are also hygienic, eco-friendly, stain-resistant, chemical-resistant, and fireproof.

We used epoxy grout for all bathroom surfaces to ensure maximum hygiene, and provide strong resistance to chemicals and physical wear and tear. The epoxy grout also ensures a strong waterproof seal.

We also installed a full Aqualine GIB in the bathroom and used the durable Resene Alabaster paint for the bathroom ceiling for a warm shade of white.

Shower, Bath & Vanity

The shower area is spacious and made of 10mm thick tempered glass and is waterproofed using Mapei products. The drain system is designed for easy cleaning and maintenance, using a Revolver Invisi-Drain supplied by Reece, ensuring both a sleek look with practicality.

The Posh Domaine Freestanding Bathtub exudes a minimalist aesthetic through its sleek, elegant design. Measuring 1700 x 750mm and finished in white, this bath is perfect for creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere in the bathroom. Its back-to-wall design allows for easy cleaning and makes it a stunning focal point in any bathroom.

The main bathroom features a custom-made, wall-mounted vanity countertop that measures 1600mm in length and includes both drawers and a cabinet. The semi-bathroom also has a custom-made, wall-mounted vanity countertop of the same size.

Bathroom Fittings & Fixtures

The main bathroom features a double countertop basin, allowing for simultaneous use during busy mornings. The countertop basin is a Valdama Sinfonia in white gloss with dimensions of 53.5x42x16H and is supplied by Franklin. Additionally, there is an extra power socket placed beside the toilet for potential future installation of a bidet.

The tapware, including a wall-mounted bath spout and mixer, overhead shower system, and tall basin mixer, are all in a Hansgrohe chrome finish to provide elegance which is also easy to maintain. The heated towel rails and toilet roll holders are from Heirloom.

We installed underfloor heating in all bathrooms to keep them warm during the winter months. Additionally, a 3-in-1 heater with an independent extractor fan was added to ensure maximum moisture removal after showering.

The bathroom also has an LED light strip under the vanity. The sensors automatically light up the bathroom for easy access during nighttime, eliminating the need for ceiling lights.

Before

After

Before the renovation

Our client was clear about wanting her kids to enjoy the new bathroom before Christmas and keeping her existing favourite mirror as it is.

In addition, Laura also wanted more lighting and ventilation in the bathroom space. She wanted to do away with the unused bathtub and replace it with a big shower. She also asked if we could provide more storage as well as a heated towel rail.

We love a good brief and were in to help Laura get her upgraded bathroom.

After the renovation

The client was pleasantly surprised and absolutely overjoyed with the result. She couldn’t believe the change we brought to her bathroom after 30 years since the house was built.

Not only are all areas looking renewed but there is secure waterproofing protection and much more ventilation. The space looks larger, brighter and easier to maintain which our client hugely appreciated.

Overall look & feel

We gave Laura’s bathroom a modern and practical look. Using tones of white with gray shades, we brought the space alive with brightness and sophistication. Utlising Laura’s requirements along with our experience for design and functionality in bathroom spaces, we ensured the new space is bright, spacious and full of practicality, making it easy to use, maintain and enjoy.

Large Shower

For the large shower cabin, we used a sliding door with 10mm thickness tempered glass and stainless steel rollers. This allows the water to drain off quicker, preventing moisture build up in the bathroom. Ease of maintenance being front of mind, we installed an easy clean drain system as well.

Materials

The vanity is high gloss white for further moisture protection. We also placed 600*600mm Carrara series glossy finish for the wall tiles and 600*600mm LIVA series matte finish for floor. Both these are from our premium supplier Value Tiles & Flooring to maintain colour scheme as well as quality. The paints are Opononi Quarter colour shade from Dulux interior paint range for longest durability.

To take care of the leak they had, we installed a full Aqualine GIB which has a water resistant core to prevent steam and moisture penetration and a new cieling GIB. We also replaced the sub floor under the old bath making everything dry again with a Technokolla waterproofing product from New Zealand’s leading supplier for adhesives and tiling.

Storage

We provided storage in the freestanding vanity which has a 1200 mm length with a single basin. The 3 drawers are handle-free design and a large adjacent cupboard under the sink for the larger items.

A freestanding vanity is advantageous over the previous wall hung design as it is easier to clean, no mess or water underneath and neatly hides all the plumbing while making use of the available space against the wall.

Fittings & Fixtures

We used quality tapware and accessories in chrome colour from Englefield and Heirloom – both trusted suppliers in New Zealand for quality bathroom supplies. All the flooring and shower areas are now waterproof. There’s also a feature wall between the mirror and vanity adding a highlight to the area.

We installed a rimless toilet system which is more hygienic – so our client gets nothing but a sparkly clean toilet after every flush. For the bathroom lighting we installed Philip LED downlights and an LED mirror light from Lighting Plus for Laura’s favourite mirror.

We installed a 3 in 1 heater from HPM – this provides light, heating as well as ventilation. For added ventilation, we also installed a vent fan on top of the shower cabin.

Reviving Anna’s Ensuite Bathroom

Reviving Anna’s Ensuite Bathroom

Project Overview

Our client Anna had struggled with the master ensuite bathroom which had suffered serious water damage for about 2 years.

The bathroom was completely unusable as Anna wanted to prevent further damage and gather the budget to renovate.

I am absolutely amazed at the work Jimmy and the Ideal renovations Auckland team have done to my bathroom! It was completely destroyed with water damage and we were unable to even use it despite having an ensuite. Within 3 weeks, Jimmy did a magical job of coordinating with the different teams and suppliers to deliver on a completely amazing new bathroom. Everything was delivered as promised within the time and the budget! We are so happy with them that we are now working with Ideal Renovations Auckland to do our master bedroom renovation.

Anna Smith

View the transformation

Before

After

Before the renovation

Anna needed a complete bathroom renovation with full damage repair which had creeped into the cabinets, slider, master bedroom wall and garage wall. Additionally, she also wanted maximum ventilation in a fully tiled bathroom with more sunlight exposure.

Our co-founder Jimmy and his team jumped in to the rescue. Read on to find out how we revived Anna’s ensuite bathroom.

After the renovation

Our client was delighted with the outcome. They not only received a brand new ensuite that they can use again but all the water damaged areas are now fixed! With a new GIB, new skirtings and new paint – the bathroom is definitely prepared to last for years for come.

The bathroom has our standard bathroom renovation workmanship guarantee of 2 years. All the fittings come with a supplier warranty of 5 years and the waterproofing has a 15 year warranty.

Overall look & feel

We completely revamped the entire bathroom which was run-down, damaged and much in need of repair. The new bathroom has shades of white and grey shown off from the tiled walls and flooring. We installed sleek and elegant fittings to complete the look with luxury and quality. The bathroom is now dry, well-lit, easy to maintain and a pleasure to use.

Materials - Flooring

For the flooring and walls, we used 600mm x 600mm size tiles of the Carrara series from Value Tiles & Flooring. These bigger sized tiles have a beautiful abstract pattern to provide a classy look of continuity and add brightness to the space.

Materials - Shower & Vanity

The shower cabin has 10mm thickness tempered glass and stainless steel rollers – allowing water to be easily cleaned after the shower. It also has an easy clean drain to add to the effortless maintenance. We also entirely replaced the framing in the wall cavity due to water damage. Now the bathroom has a fresher brand new look while making the overall wall structure safer. The vanity is a Cork Shadow 900mm freestanding vanity with single basin.

We placed a full Aqualine GIB that has a water resistant core to prevent steam and moisture penetration and is New Zealand’s number 1 tiling substrate used in bathrooms. Thicker GIB is used on ceilings for a better quality finish, especially where wet and humid conditions mean ceiling sag can occur.

Storage

For the vanity, we went with a freestanding one which provides more space and also removes the need to clean underneath since it is fully sealed to the flooring tiles. This prevents water and dust going underneath making it more hygienic. The vanity is compartmentalized with drawers and cabinets for the storage of toiletries and personal items.

Fittings & Fixtures

We installed a rimless toilet system which changes the way water enters the bowl during flushing. This produces a quieter and cleaner flush every time – making it easier to clean and long lasting. It also uses less water with every flush which is an added bonus!

Philip LED downlights illuminate the bathroom brightly while also adding to power savings. It also highlights the Dulux paint used throughout the interiors.

The tapware and accessories are chrome coloured to align with the theme. And the look is complete with a LED mirror light from Lighting Plus.

Epsom Bathroom

Epsom Bathroom

Project Overview

Our client in Epsom wanted to renovate all 3 bathrooms in their lovely home.

They have a master en-suite bathroom, a second bathroom and a guest bathroom with toilet and shower which all needed a stylish makeover. While keeping them aligned in style and theme, we decided to give them each a unique look and functionality of their own. Team Ideal Renovations Auckland worked with their client to deliver 3 unique designs which they loved and we got started on delivering!

"I had an amazing experience working with the Ideal Renovations Auckland team. They were helpful, professional and delivered high quality results. Jimmy & Geoffrey were patient with all my needs and worked within my budget. I now have an amazing bathroom which I love to use every day! Thank you so much guys."

Nivisha Arora

Premium bathroom style

We kept all 3 bathrooms looking modern and stylish by using 600mm * 600mm tiles with a white marble finish. To compliment the pristine look of white, we used Ash coloured Oak wood in our design and chose sleek and modern fittings.

We fitted the tiles with a uniquely random style which highlights the abstract designs on the tiles, making the entire wall look artistic and enchanting. We chose to use these tiles because they resist wear from daily use and are moisture resistant making them durable for years to come.

Keeping in mind the daily use and functionality of the bathrooms, we ensured they are all low-maintenance with exposed surfaces that are easy to reach and clean.

Bath & Shower cabins

For the master bathroom, our client wanted a freestanding bath as opposed to a drop in bathtub. We cleverly made use of the space by choosing to fit a freestanding bath with two long edges that go hard up against the wall. This ensures no water drips and spills behind the bath – removing the need to worry about a wet mess. Easy maintenance with luxury soaks anytime!

For the second bathroom, we placed a luxuriously large 1700mm x 1100 mm shower cabin with frameless shower glass and doors. This gives it a sleek and seamless look of pure opulence and size. They resist corrosion as there is no use of metal and are also mould-resistant and easy to clean as lesser hardware prevents water build up.

In the guest bathroom, we installed a diamond shaped tiled shower cabin. The beauty of a diamond shaped shower stall is not just in its unique shape but in the way it utilises a smaller space perfectly. The door opens inwards between two retaining glass on the sides offering much better use of space than a pull out shower door.

Bathroom Fittings

For the bathrooms we installed premium Hansgrohe and Caroma fittings which are elegant yet functional with space and maintenance.

The countertop basin style is the best of both worlds. Modern and stylish compared to traditional sinks and they allow you to have more space and ease-of-maintenance than pedestal or wall mounted sinks. The minimal design with the practicality and versatility they offer makes them a perfect choice for modern bathrooms.

The mirrors have an auto-demist function keeping them clean and crystal clear of finger marks and smudges. They also have the option to switch between warm and cold colours along with a power saving mode. In the master bathroom we installed a round shaped cosmetic mirror which is very popular with the ladies. The mirrors in the other bathrooms also had rounded edges with LED lighting.

We also installed ash oak cabinets to provide plenty of storage under the vanity. The colour scheme is sophisticated while supplementing the look of the white marble tiles and flooring.

Our client loved their 3 bathrooms and we really enjoyed delivering this project for them. We will be enjoying the unique spaces and benefits for years to come.

Flat Bush Bathroom

Flat Bush Bathroom

Project Overview

Our client built their lovely new house in Flat Bush and they reached out to Ideal Renovations Auckland to design the bathroom, kitchen and living spaces to complete their new dream home.

Together with the team, we worked out our client needs.

For the bathroom, they wanted a modern and contemporary look while being easy to clean and maintain. They also wanted to create a space which can be used functionally and practically especially on busy mornings but remain elegant in styling and design.

“My dream of having a custom-designed bathroom, kitchen as well as a living space fit for entertainment brought me to Ideal Renovations Auckland. Their exceptional service helped tick all my boxes and made my dream home a reality. I am blown away by their patience and professionalism. We are one very satisfied family looking forward to creating many precious memories in our dream home.”

Ellie Eng

Bathroom

To create a look of style yet practicality in the bathroom, we used 600 x 600 mm tiles on all the walls and did a black and white feature wall to highlight the bath. We used a modern freestanding bath with elegant fittings to match with the bathroom and create a warm look. The client has two boys for whom we built two side-by-side vanity counters so each has their own one to use – especially on busy mornings. We placed an LED mirror on each side with an auto demist function to prevent unnecessary wiping and marks.

Guest Bathroom

We also worked on a guest bathroom with a toilet, sink and vanity area. Giving it a look of elegance and warmth with a feature wall using rhombic diamond shaped tiles in a stylish pattern. To keep it hygienic and easy to maintain, we installed a freestanding vanity and big basin. As an added feature, we chose a colour changing LED mirror which switches between cool and warm colours for mood lighting. The project was delivered within time and budget and the client was very happy with the workmanship and quality that was added to their home.

Ellerslie Bathroom

Ellerslie Bathroom

Project Overview

Our Ellerslie couple had a vision of transforming their old, plain bathroom into an aesthetically pleasing space with the highest level of comfort.

This was a two-bathroom renovation project that we tirelessly worked on to produce the best results. This is how we handled this project.

“Great selection of bathroom products and designs. Easy communication and efficient service. A bit of delay but quickly resolved. Will recommend.”

Malcolm Knight

Bathroom vanity

The bathroom looked congested. A lot of bathroom essentials scattered all over. The challenge was to find a way to get rid of all the clutter. This is how we came up with the idea of installing an oak-colored vanity with a stone vanity top, which our client could use to place a few items. A house plant would be ideal to enhance the beauty of the bathroom. Top on their priority was effective space management to create enough storage space. We installed spacious cabinets and drawers. This would ensure the space looked neat and attractive.

Classic fixtures

The idea was to ensure perfect harmony of the design with the fixtures. An update from the traditional and plain fixtures proved necessary to create a new, elegant, and modern look. We decided to replace the plain sink with a rectangular Dinan countertop basin. We replaced the regular faucet with a classic one. We installed an attractive LED mirror and warm lights to brighten the bathroom space. Since we did not change the bathroom layout, we thought it was practical to install a back-to-wall toilet to avoid unnecessary plumbing costs. The free-standing back-to-wall bathtub was one of the highlights of the room. We installed the classic bathtub right below the window to provide our client with an excellent view during a relaxing bath.

Exemplary tile-work

The idea was to complement the lighting and thematic appeal. To create a uniform look, we incorporated a full-wall tile work in the bathroom. Our client thoughtfully selected a light grey marble-looking tile that fully transformed the bathroom into an inviting and elegant space. The tiles were easy to maintain and clean up. We intended to achieve the highest standard set-up with our tilework. We also incorporated underfloor heating while installing the flooring material since tiles can be icy cold. Our client could now comfortably walk on the floor without any inconveniences. You could be yearning to spice up the look of your bathroom but lack the proper insight. Let our story inspire you to take action to transform your bathroom into a space that suits your needs and fits your personality. Call us today to get started on your bathroom renovation project.

Dannemora Bathroom

Dannemora Bathroom

Project Overview

This bathroom renovation project is proof that you can transform your bathroom into an elegant, comforting, and relaxing haven that suits your needs.

What more could our client want than a long soak in a classic bathtub surrounded by warm colors with a homey feel. We completed our three-bathroom renovation project for our happy Dannermora client.

“We finally have our dream bathtub! We now have no problem getting the kids to take their baths! Truly amazed with the patience of the team at Ideal Renovations Auckland. It was a stressful time getting 3 bathrooms renovated at the same time, but you completed the project within the promised timeframe. Thank you for your valuable advice and making sure we didn’t go over budget. Ideal Renovations Auckland will be our go-to for all future projects.”

Amanda Marie

Unique vanity

We transformed the once plain and cluttered vanity into a more spacious and clutter-free classic oak-colored vanity. This color blended well with other elements giving the space a modern and luxurious look. We installed spacious soft close cabinets that offered plenty of storage. The outstanding look wouldn’t be complete without an oval countertop basin accompanied by a simple yet elegant faucet. We also installed an LED mirror that completely illuminated the room.

Design features

By the end of our project, the bathroom spoke volumes about the style and personality of our client. We worked closely to ensure we used the design and colors of their choice. We installed all-black fittings that complimented the light color combination on the walls to provide a perfectly blended look. We got rid of the old wallpapers and incorporated a full wall tile that gave the room a whole new and attractive look.

Bathroom fixtures

Our project wasn’t deemed complete without toilet and shower upgrades. A back-to-wall toilet proved to be a more practical option given the plumbing system in the bathroom. We replaced the shallow bathtub with a deeper and wider one to provide ample space and comfort for a relaxing bath. In the wet area, we installed frameless shower doors that are more efficient than the shower curtain that we had to remove. The hand-held shower heads also allowed our client to enjoy a rejuvenating shower. We also fitted unique and illuminating lights of the highest standard setup to brighten the space.

Superior flooring

Walking on cold tiles on a chilly morning is the most uncomfortable experience. This is why we enhanced our client’s comfort by installing an underfloor heating system. They were completely thrilled by the outcome. They could now comfortably step on the floor without getting the chills. Your bathroom should be a haven where you can escape the realities of the world for a moment. We hope that this project has stirred up your inspiration to get your bathroom transformed. You can get rid of the old and plain elements in your bathroom. All you have to do is get in touch with us today!
